Mid Summer Classics Underway:

RMSJ is pleased to announce the Mid Summer Classics scheduled for July 4-6, and July 9-13 began yesterday. Competitors will be competing for over $100,000 in prize money. Including the July Classic I, 170 competitors have joined us for week one, and we are excited that over 275 horses have signed up for next week's Mid Summer Classic II and C.S.I.E.

C.S.I.E. (Calgary Show Jumping International Extravaganza)

The stage has been set for the first ever C.S.I.E. The Mid Summer Classic II (July 9-13) will be a C.S.I.E. event. As many are aware, an international competition is categorized as a CSI, and one with a Nation's Cup is a CSIO. We at RMSJ decided to put a little twist in the game, and rank our Mid Summer Classic a C.S.I.E.

Some special events to be held at the Mid Summer Classic will include:

  • $25,000 1.10/1.20/1.30/1.40m Subway Full Meal Deal Grand Prix

  • $10,000 2'6"/2'9"/3'0"/3'3" Horse Sport Grand Prix

  • $10,000 1.40m Allied Seismic Open Jumper Welcome

  • $10,000 1.10/1.20/1.30/1.40m Bradon Team Cup

  • $5,000 2'6"/2'9"/3'0"/3'3" Stoneridge Team Cup

  • $5,000 Blue Valley Farms 1.20m Jr/Am (Carried from BVC II)

  • $2,500 Bradon Construction 1.10m Jr/Am (Carried from BVC II)

Riders in the Team Cups will make four (minimum three) member teams with one person from each respective height. The event will be a Nation's Cup format with each member competing at his/her height of the same course. The top four or five teams (depending on the total number of teams) will come back for a second round to determine the winning team. Should a jump off be required, a height will be drawn, and the rider from each team in that respective height will do battle to determine the winning team.

The Grand Prix's will be open to all competitors from each respective height level, and the competitors will jump the same course at their respective height. In the Jump Off, the lower height jumpers will be given a small handicap in seconds before they cross the timers to counter the time spent in the air and turning factor being much less for a horse jumping little jumps versus those jumping bigger jumps.

Competitors, please note, that the normal start fee for a $25,000 competition is $400 and for a $10,000 competition is $300. The Start Fees for the Full Meal Deal Grand Prix and the Horse Sport Grand Prix are $285 and $150 respectively. Unlike the upper divisions in the sport, we know that competitors in the lower divisions are not used to paying high start fees, and decided to lower the usual fees to encourage participation in what we believe will be very exciting competitions.

RMSJ and Strive Energy:

Rocky Mountain Show Jumping is pleased to announce an arrangement with Strive Energy Services of Calgary. With the attendance growth of the tournaments held at Anderson Ranch, RMSJ management needed to erect some stalls in the indoor arena. This had been done numerous times in the past, however with the installation of state of the art footing, the stalls had to be placed on some kind of floor to protect the footing. With a little bit of research, we found a company that provides oilfield mats to the oil and gas industry. Strive’s (patent pending) oilfield mats combine the strength of rig mats with the easy transport and handling of access mats.

The floor was put in the indoor, and the stalls placed directly on top of the extermely durable mats. Everyone who was stabled indoors loved them, so we approached the company and asked if we could be the distributor of their Mats as well as their wood chip by-product to the equestrian and agriculture industry. Our industry is only a tiny fraction of the oilfield industry so they agreed.

The uses of these Mats and Chip by-products are numerous to equine facilities, show venues, and private farms.

Please feel free to contact us....more information will follow!
